Comp Sci High is reimagining high school through the lens of economic prosperity and work-based learning, which the school has taken to the next level. Combining computing, finance, internships, soft skill instruction, and long-term career planning, the school weaves career preparation into every aspect of the high school experience, keeping kids focused on both the four years that comes after high school, and the forty years that follow. The lottery to enroll in Comp Sci High is open to any NYC student, but the school was founded to serve the lowest-income Bronx communities in the NY-15 congressional district. If awarded the million dollar Yass Prize, Comp Sci High would expand its model to help schools across the Bronx, NYC, and the entire country to make their programs more relevant to the actual economy, and help their students plan and prepare for their adult lives.
