Faith-based Independent High School Network Exemplifies a Transformational Model
MIAMI, FL. On Tuesday, February 13th, The Yass Prize for Sustainable, Transformational, Outstanding and Permissionless Education continues its multi-state Roadshow for Opportunity with a stop in Miami, FL, at Cristo Rey Miami High School of the Cristo Rey Network, an innovative and disruptive faith-based high school network with 39 schools in 24 states transforming the landscape of opportunity for the least advantaged youth.
The Cristo Rey Network was named a Finalist for the 2023 Yass Prize and winner of a $500,000 STOP Award, recognized for its innovative model designed to set up its high school students for future success. The distinctive school model consists of students going to class for four days for extended hours. Then, on the fifth day, they head to local businesses as part of the nationally recognized Corporate Work Study Program – equipping all their learners with the knowledge, character, and skills to shape the rest of their lives.
The event, which is open to the press, begins at 11:00 am with a tour, followed by an 11:30 Q&A, which will be attended by Janine Yass, Founder of the Yass Prize, Jeanne Allen, Director of the Yass Foundation, Cristo Rey Network leadership, and lawmakers and nationally recognized education leaders.
This event is closed to the public. However, members of the media who wish to attend or interview participants should contact:
