The Center for Education Reform (CER) today announced the STOP Award, a new $1 million prize created to honor education providers that continued to perform for underserved families during the coronavirus pandemic.
In conjunction with the annual ASU+GSV Summit taking place this week in San Diego, CA, Jeanne Allen, CER Founder and CEO, explained that the STOP Award will reward an exceptional group of people or an organization who seized innovative tools to persevere in educating their students during one of the most trying times in history.
STOP embodies the mission of a new fund CER is administering that seeks to scale K-12 education opportunities that are Sustainable, Transformational, Outstanding, and Permissionless.
These four attributes for any education setting will ensure that families now and in the future get what they deserve – access to individualized learning opportunities for their students, offered in supportive environments, alongside their peers.
“It is our intention that this prize will not only reward the best-in-class providers who delivered outstanding education when it was most needed, but will serve as a benchmark to all that struggled in their valiant efforts to do so,” said Allen. “We are proud to highlight the type of innovative work that will chart the future for sustainable and transformational opportunities for students — in permissionless settings.”
