About
Indi-ED – a name derived from Independent, Individualized Education – is school reimagined. They believe that children are capable of more than is available through traditional methods and the skills needed for their futures are restricted in those systems. Indi-ED means Independent Individualized Education, and its approach has three main components: allowing its students and their families to lead; utilizing project-based learning; and connecting learning to the real world. Cohorts consist of 13 multi-aged students aligned based on academic, developmental, and social readiness. Teachers know their students’ families and have the freedom to individualize instruction for each child. Students learn about what they are interested in, move at their own pace, and have their individual needs met. If Indi-ED receives the $1 million Yass Prize, the majority of the award will go toward expanding Indi-ED’s physical locations in order to immediately impact more students and serve the hundreds of students on its waitlist, reopening its high school program, and begin to establish satellite campuses in the tri-city area of Clearwater, St. Petersburg, and Tampa and then establish a national presence.
