About
College Achieve Public Charter Schools (CAPS) – a fast-scaling network where every student is a scholar – is a high-demand school serving underserved students in some of NJ’s least advantaged communities. Defining academic success not simply as graduating from high school, but from college, CAPS is redefining public education. Currently serving 3,500 students (slated to grow to 5,000) the school offers “the best of what we know about education — an approach usually reserved for the privileged and gifted.” With an ambitious growth plan for New Jersey and the Eastern seaboard CAPS’ focus is to launch schools in places not just underserved but in communities that charter and school choice efforts have overlooked or not reached. CAPS, which “believes all of our students are gifted and talented,” would use the Yass million dollar prize to enact its plans for expansion, offering more seats in places where they are already approved and then pursuing a launch in another NJ-based market.
